The old game store clerk's comment got me thinking about rulebooks

I was flipping through a 1990s copy of Warhammer at a shop in Columbus and the guy behind the counter said 'nobody reads these cover to cover anymore.' He had a point. Back in '94 my group spent a whole weekend just arguing over the line of sight rules, but now we watch a 10 minute YouTube video and move on. Is that a loss or just progress? I kind of miss the slow burn of figuring it out together.

Man, I gotta respectfully disagree here. I get the nostalgia, but sitting around for a weekend arguing over line of sight sounds like a headache, not a good time. YouTube video gets us to the actual playing part faster, and that's where the fun is now.
