Debate: Is the old-school soapstone still better than digital markers?

I've been marking layout lines with a soapstone for 15 years, but last month I tried one of those digital angle finders on a big pressure vessel job in Houston. It was dead on, but it felt like overkill for simple fishmouths and I swear it slowed me down. You guys think the tech is worth the money for field work, or is a good soapstone and a sharp center punch still the way to go?

...wait, digital angle finders don't use soapstone at all, right? That's two different things you're comparing there. One's for marking lines, the other's for measuring angles. Soapstone's never gonna tell you a degree, and that digital tool ain't gonna scribe a line on steel.
