Getting serious about weld checks turned my projects around
I was always in a hurry and skimped on inspecting my welds. Then I saw a buddy deal with a leak from a bad seam, so I changed my ways. Now I make time to check each weld with a glass and test fluid. Last month, this caught a crack before we pressurized a new boiler. It saved us from a messy fix and kept the job on track. My error rate has dropped since I made this a rule. What small change has helped you avoid big problems?

Why do we always learn the hard way?

Right? It's like the universe makes sure we pay attention by giving us the worst possible lesson. I've built up so many extra checks now too, just from getting burned.

Funny how being lazy about small checks always creates way more work later. Your story about the boiler is the perfect example of cutting a corner that would have taken out a whole wall. Guess I found my new habit by accident, too, after skipping steps bit me more than once. Now my laziness has turned into a weird need to double check everything, just to avoid the extra hassle.
