One apprentice asked me why I check fit-up twice, saved a 2000 dollar repair
Ngl it was on a job in Gary last month. Kid maybe 19, fresh in the trade. I was reaming a flange and he watched me scribe the same line twice. He asked why, kind of half laughing. I told him about a nozzle I fit in 2019 that looked dead on but was off by a 16th once the heat hit it. Cost the crew a whole day of grinding and a replacement head. After that he started double checking his own marks without me saying anything. Has anyone else had an apprentice ask something dumb that actually made you rethink your own routine?
