Went with the hard hat liner over a beanie this winter, good call
We had a two week outage in January up in Gary and it got down to negative digits with the wind off the lake. I always wore a knit beanie under my hard hat but it would bunch up and slide around every time I looked down at a weld. One of the older guys lent me his insulated liner that clips into the suspension, figured I'd try it for a day. That thing stayed put for a full 10 hour shift, no frozen ears and no readjusting every 20 minutes. Has anyone else made the switch, or do you just deal with the beanie slipping?
Man, I gotta disagree on this one. Tried a clip-in liner years back and the plastic tabs dug into my forehead by hour six, plus it made my head sweat bad once we moved inside for the pipe work. A thin merino beanie has never slid on me, you just gotta pull it down past your ears so the suspension sits on top of it. Maybe that liner works great outside in the wind, but for switching between indoors and out all shift, I'll keep my beanie.
