inJust hit 500 hours in AutoCAD this month and it felt weirdly huge
Yeah not really, 500 hours just means you spent time not that you're actually good.

inAm I the only one who thinks constant tool offsets are a waste of time?
Yeah that's rough. A 4% jump in scrap is no joke, especially when you're trying to dial things in. Makes you wonder what the real sweet spot is with those tolerances, huh?

inMy coworker swore by the 50/30/20 rule and I finally tried it
Hold up @butler.finley you had Netflix listed as a need? I thought I was bad but that's wild. Getting real about needs is the whole ballgame though, once you stop kidding yourself the numbers start making sense.

inI finally realized I was running my dredge pump way too fast for 2 years straight
Read a study from the mining journal last month that said most operators push their slurry pumps 20-30% over their optimal rpm, costing them both fuel and wear. The numbers were pretty wild, like thousands of dollars a year in extra maintenance. That Pete sounds like he knew his stuff, slow and steady really does win the race with these pumps. What kind of material were you dredging that let you get away with that speed for so long?

inJust realized my VPN was slowing down my whole home network for months
Emma is right that 30 Mbps can handle most streaming, but that's assuming a stable connection with no other active devices. Once you add in a couple phones, a tablet, and someone playing an online game, 30 gets eaten up quick. For a single TV stream it works fine, but that's about the limit.
