Can we talk about the moment a book club debate made you question your own reading habits?
I always skimmed over descriptive passages to get to the dialogue, but our heated discussion on 'The Overstory' revealed how much I was missing by not appreciating the environmental details. It's left me genuinely confused about whether I've been reading books all wrong for years.

Isn't the point of 'The Overstory' that the trees are the characters, not just setting? By skipping them, you might miss the narrative's core (which is a huge part of the book's message), but that doesn't mean your reading style is invalid. It's more about realizing what different authors prioritize in their storytelling, you know?

Did I miss the point by skipping all the trees?

Honestly, that might be the move. I burned myself out so hard last playthrough trying to clear every single resource node that I barely touched the story. There's a certain freedom in just ignoring the grind and focusing on whatever part of the core loop actually feels fun to you.
