I finally switched from PVA to wheat paste for spine lining

The PVA was making my spines too stiff and cracking after a few years. The wheat paste gives a much more flexible, durable hold. Anyone else made this switch and noticed their books open better?

Wait you were using PVA for spine lining this whole time. That stuff is basically plastic when it dries, no wonder your books were cracking. Wheat paste is the old school bookbinding standard for a reason, it stays flexible with the paper. I'm honestly surprised the PVA lasted a few years before failing. The switch must feel like night and day for how the books open now.

Wish I could help but I can barely glue two pieces of paper together. Sounds like you figured out the right stuff for the job though.

Tell me about it, my last craft project ended with more glue on my fingers than the actual project. At least you know your limits, that's half the battle right there. I'm just glad someone out there knows what they're doing.
