Vent: Lost a full day's work because my glue pot boiled over

Was rebinding a 1920s poetry collection. Lined up all the signatures. Went to heat my PVA and got distracted by a phone call. Came back to glue bubbling over the sides of the pot. Ruined my workbench. Had to stop, scrape everything down. Has anyone else had a heat-related mishap wreck their progress?

and this is exactly why i think we've all gotten way too comfortable multitasking during craft projects. like modern life is all about juggling a million things at once but some stuff really needs your full focus. heat sensitive materials don't care about your phone call lol. it's wild how one little distraction can just nuke hours of setup work. i bet everyone who's done any kind of hot glue work has a similar story where they learned the hard way that heat waits for no one.

Three failed EVA foam helmets in a row taught me this lesson the hard way. That's around 15 hours of cutting and shaping down the drain because I answered one text message. How do you balance keeping an eye on that perfect temperature without just staring at your heat gun the whole time?
