TIL I paid $85 to a 'profile audit' service that just counted my followers and sent me a PDF
So I got sucked into one of those ads promising to tell me if an account was a bot, right, and it was only $85 so I figured why not. The report came back after 4 days and it was literally a screenshot of the profile, a follower count, and a line that said "engagement appears low, likely automated." That was it. No breakdown of posting times, no look at the accounts leaving comments, nothing I couldn't see myself in 30 seconds of scrolling. I then found out you can check a lot of this stuff for free just by clicking the profile and seeing if every comment is from the same 6 accounts with default avatars. The whole thing stung more because I run a small crew and $85 is a tank of gas for the truck, so it's not nothing. I want to know how these services stay in business, and has anyone here actually paid for one of these audit tools and gotten something real out of it? Because I'm 0 for 1 and not trying again soon.
