My monstera grew a leaf shaped like a butt and my 6-year-old will not let it go
Last month I finally got my monstera to push out a new leaf after like 4 months of nothing, and it came out looking exactly like two cheeks. My kid spotted it from across the room and now every single friend or delivery guy who walks into our place in Columbus gets dragged over to see the plant. I tried rotating the pot toward the window hoping it would even out, but it just got more butt-shaped, honestly impressive. My wife wants me to cut it off and I refuse because it is the most personality this plant has shown in 2 years. Has anybody else gotten a leaf this weird, or is my monstera just messing with me?
Did you know monsteras can throw out weird leaves when they are getting too much light on one side? I used to be on your wife's side with stuff like this, I figured just cut it and let the plant grow normal again. But then I had a pothos do something similar and I left it alone, and the next leaf came in fine on its own. Plants are not machines, one odd leaf does not mean the whole thing is broken. Rotating the pot is probably why it kept going that way, since the plant kept chasing the light and stretching that shape out. Keep the butt leaf, it is harmless and your kid will remember it way longer than a normal leaf.
