A neighbor's note about my lawn signs changed my whole approach

I put up 4 campaign signs on my front strip near downtown Bothell last month. Someone slid a sticky note under my door saying they looked like clutter and hurt the block's curb appeal. I swapped them out for two smaller ones on the fence line and added a small flower bed around the base. Now I get more compliments than complaints, plus the signs still get seen by foot traffic. Has anyone else gotten pushback on yard displays and found a better setup?
