I thought the Bothell Community Board meetings were a waste of time until I sat through one on the 228th St traffic plan
Honestly I skipped these meetings for 2 years because I figured the city already decided everything. Then I went to the March meeting at the Northshore Senior Center about the 228th St light and watched them add a left turn lane to the plan after 6 neighbors spoke up. Has anyone else been to one of these and seen a change actually stick?

Man that hits home because I did the exact same thing, wrote those meetings off as theater for like 3 years straight. Watching regular people actually shift a plan with just a few minutes at the mic is wild when you've told yourself for so long that it doesn't matter. The part I wonder about is the follow through, since plans get tweaked and then quietly dropped once nobody's watching. Curious if that left turn lane is still in the budget or if it got value engineered out later. Either way good on those neighbors for showing up, takes guts to talk in front of a room.
