Showerthought: the benches at the Bothell Landing boat launch face the wrong way
Sat there Saturday watching the river and realized every bench points at the parking lot, not the water. Feels like whoever placed them never actually sat down. Anyone know if the city takes requests for stuff like this, or am I stuck turning my chair around?
City parks people will tell you it's about sight lines for cars backing out or some safety rule, but here's the thing nobody talks about: benches at boat launches are usually paid for by grants tied to fishing access. The catch is the grant rules often say benches have to sit off the ramp area so they don't block trailer traffic, which pushes them back toward the lot. So it's not that they never sat there, it's that some rulebook decided where the bench goes before anyone thought about the view. You can put in a request through the city's parks page, but ask about moving the bench sideways instead of turning it around. If it faces the water but sits along the edge of the lot, you might get past the rule that put it there in the first place. Worth a shot before you start hauling your own folding chair down there.
