Got a "collab" email from a candle brand last month offering me 15% off a $60 candle I'd have to buy myself
I run a small home decor page, nothing huge, about 8k followers, and last month I got this email from a candle company I'd never heard of. The pitch said they wanted me to be a "brand ambassador" and in exchange I'd get a personal discount code for 15% off their $60 signature jar, which I would of course have to purchase with my own money first. I looked them up on the Better Business Bureau site and they had a 1.4 star rating with complaints about orders never shipping, plus their whole Instagram was just reposted photos from other accounts. What really got me was the email signature, it said "Sent from my iPhone" and the guy's title was "Chief Growth Officer" at a company that was somehow founded in 2023. I replied asking about their affiliate program and got a canned response about how "we don't do paid partnerships at this time." So basically they wanted free promotion from me and also wanted me to pay them. Has anyone else gotten one of these "buy your own sample" deals, and did you just ignore it or write something back?
