TIL a brand's apology video can be totally fake deep and still work, watched one get 40M views in 2 days
So I was scrolling TikTok at like 11pm on a Tuesday and this skincare brand's apology came up. The CEO sits down, no makeup, soft piano music, looks like he's about to cry. Says he's "deeply sorry for the hurt we caused." Then he mentions the refund link in the bio. 40M views in 2 days.
I pulled up their sales data and they did more revenue that week than the previous month. People in the comments are literally buying stuff to "support him being so brave."
The part that got me is the comments are all the same. "He didn't have to do this." "This is how a real company says sorry." It felt scripted. So I watched it again and counted the jump cuts. 17 cuts in 4 minutes. 17. They edited the crying.
Now I can't watch a single apology video without looking for the cuts and the product link being planted somewhere in frame. Try it on the next one you see and tell me if the cuts are hiding something or if I'm just paranoid now.
