Lost $180 on a "premium" hoodie that fell apart after two washes
Last month I ordered a hoodie from an Instagram ad. The material felt nice when it arrived, thick and soft. But after the first wash the seams started pulling apart. After the second wash the whole hem came undone. I emailed them and they said their policy is no returns on washed items. So now I've got an expensive rag. Anyone else get burned by an Insta brand that looked good but couldn't handle a washing machine?

Dude come on you put a hoodie in the washing machine like it's some old t-shirt. Did you even look at the tag? Most of those insta brands are made with delicate materials that need hand washing or at least cold water on a gentle cycle. The thick soft feel you liked is probably from a finish that gets destroyed by agitation. And the no returns on washed items thing is pretty standard for clothing, especially from small online stores. I get that it's frustrating but you can't treat a $180 hoodie like it's a $20 sweatshirt from walmart. Maybe next time check the care instructions before you wreck it.

Honestly @eric723 this actually changed my mind a bit. I used to throw everything in the wash on hot and hope for the best, but I ruined a really nice fleece from an outdoor brand last year doing that. The fabric pilled up BAD and the color faded after just three washes. Now I actually check tags and hand wash my nicer stuff with Woolite. Still think the return policy is kinda harsh though.
