Just caught a bad brick split from a cheap chisel on a job site in Tulsa
I was working a retaining wall near the Arkansas River when my chisel chipped and sent a piece flying into my safety glasses, and now I only buy carbide tipped chisels instead of the cheaper steel ones - has anyone else had a tool fail like that on you?

You're acting like he lost a finger, not a cheap chisel.

That bit about "cheap chisel" really hit home for me. It seems like every time I try to save a few bucks on a tool or appliance, it ends up costing me more in frustration or repair bills down the line. I guess the real lesson is that cheap stuff usually fails in the worst possible moment, right when you're depending on it.

Wait, you actually used a cheap chisel on something that mattered? I mean, I know we've all been there trying to save a few bucks, but that's like bringing a butter knife to a chainsaw fight. The worst is when it chips or bends right when you're putting all your weight into a cut and you nearly bust your knuckles on whatever's behind it. I had this cheap screwdriver from a dollar store that literally twisted into a corkscrew shape the first time I tried to use it on a stubborn screw.
