Tried a $6 harbor freight trowel on a garden wall last weekend and it actually came out smoother than my $70 one

Man, my buddy had the exact same thing happen with a paint sprayer. He grabbed some cheap one off a clearance rack for like $20 and it laid down a nicer coat on his fence than the fancy one he rented for the weekend. We all gave him crap about it until we saw the fence, then nobody said a word. Sometimes the cheap stuff just works and the price tag is mostly hype. Makes you wonder how much we're really paying for the brand name.
