My flight tracker hit 50 saved alerts and I finally got a deal

I set up a bunch of price alerts for a trip to Lisbon last year and just forgot about them. Checked the app yesterday and saw I had 50 saved alerts total, which felt like a lot. One of the old ones for next spring actually popped with a $380 round trip from Chicago, so I grabbed it. Has anyone else had a price alert work out after waiting a really long time?

Honestly, that's a solid win for just letting alerts sit. Did you have to check a bunch of dates or was it pretty much the exact trip you wanted? I set some for Tokyo like two years back and they finally hit last month, but the dates were all wrong for me by then.

Setting alerts and waiting years sounds like a huge waste of time to me. I tried that for a trip to Paris and the deals never matched my vacation window. You end up checking flights constantly anyway, which defeats the whole point of setting it and forgetting it. Honestly, I'd rather just book a decent price when I see it and be done with the stress. Those alert systems feel like they just get your hopes up for nothing.

My friend said alerts only work for flexible dates.
