My grocery spreadsheet finally paid off after 6 months

I started tracking every single grocery purchase back in March, just writing down prices in a notes app. At first it felt like a waste of time, but by June I noticed I was buying the same 15 items every week. That's when I saw that store brand canned tomatoes were 40 cents cheaper at the same store I already shopped at, I just never looked close enough. I also caught myself paying $4.50 for a spice blend I could make with stuff I already had for under a dollar. My weekly average dropped from $140 to $112 over the last 8 weeks, and that's without coupon clipping or driving anywhere extra. Has anyone else had a similar win just from writing things down, or is it just me? What's the smallest change that made the biggest dent in your food budget?
