My June spread decided to gaslight me into missing a dentist appointment

Last Tuesday I checked my weekly layout and saw a tiny smiley face next to Thursday, which I assumed meant 'fun coffee date' but apparently meant 'root canal prep.' I showed up to my favorite cafe with a book and my therapist's number on speed dial, only to get a voicemail from my dentist asking where I was. Anyone else had a symbol system that backfires at the worst possible time, or am I the only one who confuses a drill with a drip coffee?

Wait, are you sure that smiley was even meant for the dentist thing and not just you drawing something on autopilot? I mean, I get it, symbols are supposed to make life easier but they're only useful if you actually remember what you meant when you drew them. I've got a whole system of stars and circles and squiggles in my planner, and honestly half the time I'm just guessing what future me was thinking. Maybe the real problem isn't the smiley, it's that we give ourselves too much credit for remembering our own secret code...
