My two year old spilled a full mug of coffee on my journal, and the weird part is I kind of like what it did
For the first two years of bullet journaling I did everything with a ruler and a fine liner, monthly spreads, weekly logs, the whole thing. Then on a Tuesday morning in March my daughter knocked my mug right across the open page and about six months of habit trackers turned into a brown lake. I panicked and blotted it with paper towels, then let it dry flat under a stack of books, and what came out the other side was this wavy stained page where half the boxes were gone. I was mad for a day, but the next week I just started drawing the layouts straight with no grid, and they came out looser and honestly more useful. Looking at that stained spread now, it does the same job as the clean ones, maybe better because I stop fussing over the lines. Has anyone else had a spill or a tear basically redraw your whole system for you?
Take that idea even further and start letting the mess be the layout on purpose. Drip some coffee on a blank page first, let it dry, then draw your boxes around whatever shapes show up, and you get a grid that fits your actual week instead of some perfect one you copied off the internet. It sounds dumb but half the reason our journals stress us out is we treat them like they need to look a certain way, and your kid basically did you a favor.
