Analog toner and a bare copper line in an old wiring closet
Got sent to a 1980s building downtown last week. Wall plates were all coax and phone, no data. My digital toner kept giving a weak signal through the drywall. So I ran back to the truck and grabbed my old analog wand and amp, the one with the crackly speaker. That thing rang loud and clear right at the utility closet. Picked it over the expensive kit and finished 20 minutes early. Still carry it as backup, anyone else keep vintage tools for the weird old drop jobs?
