Vent: Drilled straight into concrete reinforcement
Was running a line in a basement. Thought the wall was standard drywall. Hit rebar with the drill bit. Snapped the bit and ruined the drill. Had to explain the delay to the boss.
Oof, that's the worst sound. I've definitely made that same guess before, thinking something was just drywall when it was clearly not. My personal low point was trying to use a concrete nail like a drywall anchor. Let's just say the wall won that fight, and I had a lot of spackling to do. That crunch noise haunts me.
Okay, but is that crunch sound really such a big deal? It's just a noise when you mess up a DIY project. I've heard it too, and yeah, it's annoying, but it doesn't haunt me. People make mistakes all the time, and walls can be fixed. The sound is just a reminder to be more careful next time. It's not worth getting all worked up over.
