Overheard a counter guy in Denver say 'sure, just bend it back' about a customer's lens mount, and that should scare you
Stood in line at a shop on Broadway last Tuesday and heard the guy behind the counter tell a customer he could just bend a bent lens mount back by hand. That flange needs to sit flat within about 0.02mm or your focus plane goes crooked and every shot comes out soft on one side. I have seen three cameras in the past 6 months where somebody did this and the mount broke off in chunks the second time. The repair went from a $90 swap to a $400 body teardown. If a shop ever tells you bending a mount is fine, walk out. What is the worst quick fix advice you have heard someone give a customer?
