Just got passed over for a team lead spot after 2 years of putting in extra hours
Found out on Tuesday that my manager gave the lead role to someone who joined our group in Denver 8 months ago. Part of me thinks I should just ask him straight up what I was missing, and the other part thinks chasing feedback after a decision like that just makes you look desperate. I stayed late on 3 big projects last quarter and got zero mention in the announcement email. Do you push for a real answer or start updating the resume quietly?
Lol come on, asking for feedback is not desperate, it is literally the most normal thing you can do after getting passed over. The guy who got the job has been there 8 months, so either Denver is doing something different or your manager values something you don't know about yet, and you only find that out by asking. Update the resume too, but do it after the conversation, not instead of it.
