That one Thursday when 3 interviews said yes in a row

I had been job hunting for 6 weeks after my company in Phoenix shut down our department, and last Thursday I got three callbacks within 4 hours. One was a total surprise from a place I applied to back in March and had written off completely. Has anyone else had a day where everything just clicked at once after a dry spell?

Yeah I gotta say I push back on that "opportunity clustering" thing a little. It sounds nice and tidy but I think it's more about timing and luck than some sort of career wave pattern. I mean sure things come in bursts but it's not some cosmic thing where the universe decides to send you three calls at once. More like you apply to a bunch of places over weeks and some HR people just happen to call back on the same day because that's when they got around to your resume. That March callback especially just shows that some companies move slow and it's random when they finally check their pile. I don't buy that there's a pattern to it or a special name for it honestly. It's just how hiring works sometimes, no magic behind it.

Saw something about this in a career advice column recently, they called it "opportunity clustering" where things tend to come in waves after quiet periods. Good for you getting those callbacks, especially the one from March.
