Three years ago I took a temp job that changed how I think about resumes

Back in 2021 I was between gigs in Austin and took a 3-month temp role at a hiring agency (just sorting files, nothing fancy). I got to see about 200 resumes come through and noticed that the ones with a short summary at the top (like 3 bullet points) got way more callbacks than the ones that just listed jobs. Last week I tried that same trick on my own resume for a project manager role and got an interview within 48 hours. Has anyone else tested a summary section and seen a difference?

My 3 line summary got me 3 interviews in one week.

Oh my, yes I have definitely seen the difference. I spent about 15 years in HR before retiring and we always told candidates to put a short summary at the top because hiring managers spend maybe 10 seconds looking at each resume. It saves them from having to hunt through your whole work history to figure out what you can actually do for them.
