My career plan got thrown off track when I failed a licensing exam last month

I was set to take my journeyman electrician exam back in October and I studied for like 3 months straight using online practice tests and old textbooks. Got to the testing center in Portland and totally froze on the load calculation section. I ended up missing passing by 7 points and it hit me pretty hard because I already told my boss I'd be ready for a raise after I passed. I spent a few days moping around before I scheduled a retake for January. What really helped was finding a local study group through the IBEW hall that meets twice a week. Has anyone else bombed a big cert exam and had to regroup on their own timeline?
