Turns out 85% of HVAC techs burn out within 5 years. Found that stat on some industry report from 2023.
I was looking up licensing requirements in my state and stumbled across this stat from ACCA. It hit me hard because I just hit year 4 doing this solo and I'm already feeling the grind. Anyone else seen numbers like that in their trade and just ignored them?
Whoa wait, hold up. 85%? That number can't be right, that's almost everybody who starts. I mean, I knew the trade was rough but that high of a dropout rate sounds like something out of a horror movie. Did that report say why they all leave or is it just a blanket stat that nobody questions?
