inAppreciation post: That crane hand signal guide from 1992 at the old Burns yard
Wait, 1992? That's the year I started at the Burns yard, how the hell did that thing survive?

inSwitched from stacking eyepieces to using a filter wheel last month
Wait, has anyone looked at how a filter wheel affects dew management? I swapped to one last winter and realized I could keep the whole optical train sealed up way better than when I was unscrewing filters in the dark. Even with @jakel36's point about sharpness, I bet the consistency from less air exposure between shots is doing a lot of the heavy lifting.

inTook 4 hours to level a subfloor that I figured would be 45 minutes tops
I read something from a building inspector's blog last week that said houses built before 1980 in this area were framed differently. They used larger dimensional lumber but spaced it wider apart, so you get more movement over time. If this was a 1970s split level like it looks, the floors probably bounced like a trampoline before they started. The settling cracks in the drywall would have told you everything you needed to know, especially around door frames. A lot of those older homes also used particle board subflooring that just doesn't hold up the same as plywood.

inBlew $120 on that fancy 'anime figure protection spray' from a con vendor
Reminds me of when I tried using that "museum wax" to keep my figures from tipping over. Stuff was supposed to be safe but it left this oily stain on the base of my Saber figure that never came off. Now I just use a cheap makeup brush for dusting and it works fine.

inThe day I figured out I was cutting against the grain for 2 years
@lauras83 you will not believe how many runners do that exact same thing.
