Debate: Do you count your nail gun misses or just ignore them?

I hit 37 missed nails yesterday on a roof job and it got me thinking. Some guys I know track every misfire and bent nail to figure out if their compressor is dying or the nails are bad. But another crew I worked with last month said they never count because it's just noise and slows you down. I'm sitting at about 3 misses per 100 nails lately and wondering if that's normal or if I need to adjust my pressure. What's your take on counting or ignoring? Do you find patterns in your misses or just fire and forget?

Gotta be honest, tracking that stuff down to the exact number seems like overthinking it to me. I mean, yeah you notice if you're bending a bunch of nails or they're all firing crooked, but keeping a running count on a hot roof feels like wasting brain space. Sounds like you're at a decent rate already, maybe just check your pressure if it bugs you and move on.

Are you tracking air pressure at the gun or just guessing?
