Rant: Worst Tuesday I've had in 5 years

Had a job north of Phoenix where the customer's attic hit 130 degrees by noon. Crawled through fiberglass for 3 hours only to find a rat chewed through the main line. How do you guys handle extreme heat jobs without passing out?

Update: that week I ruined 4 batches of macarons in a row and then accidentally nailed them on Friday

So last week was a total disaster for me. Monday I overwhipped my meringue, Tuesday I underbaked and they stuck to the mat, Wednesday I got the feet right but hollow shells, Thursday I tried a new flavor and the ganache was way too runny. I was ready to quit. But Friday I said forget it, went back to basics with my old reliable recipe, and somehow they came out perfect. First try. No cracks, full shells, nice feet. Now I'm wondering if those bad days were just me getting in my own head. Does anyone else have weeks where everything goes wrong and then one bake just clicks? What do you think flips the switch?

Air fryer vs. oven for frozen french fries - night and day difference

I always made frozen fries in the oven at 425 for like 20 minutes and they came out okay but a little limp. Got an air fryer last month and tried the same brand of fries at 400 for 12 minutes and they were way crispier. Not even close. Has anyone else found certain frozen foods just don't work in the air fryer? My onion rings turned out dry.

Back in 2014 I remember a small local bakery had a batch of cookies with the wrong sugar and they just posted a plain text apology on their page. No video, no fancy graphics. People actually respected it. Fast forward to last week I saw a big chain do a whole 3 part apology series with a hashtag and a charity pledge after a mix up with their rewards program. It felt so fake and overdone... has anyone else noticed how brands try way too hard to fix things now?

My niece was over last weekend and she started explaining why her TikTok feed is "perfect" while mine is full of random junk. She said the secret is watching a video all the way through without rewinding or pausing even once, because the algorithm takes that as a negative signal. I never thought about it that way - I always just thought pausing was normal. She also said commenting within the first 10 seconds boosts your visibility like crazy. Has anyone else heard this from younger users or am I getting played by a middle schooler?

I was sitting in the galley on a boat out of Port Fourchon last week and this older diver was telling a story about how he almost got himself cut off from air because he set his umbilical wrong on a job. He said he wrapped it around a pipe without locking it off, and when the current shifted it pulled him sideways and kinked his hose. My roommate said "beans are boring" and I lost it

I was meal prepping on Sunday and my roommate walks in, sees my pot of pinto beans simmering, and goes "ugh beans are so boring." I didn't say anything but inside I was screaming. Like girl, I stretched that $2 bag of beans into 8 meals last week with just some onion, garlic, and a ham hock I got for $1 at the butcher. Have you ever had refried beans on a crispy tortilla with salsa? Boring is not the word. What's your go to cheap bean recipe that shuts people up?

My tablet pen died mid-livestream and I had to finish with a mouse

I was in the middle of a live demo for my art showcase last Tuesday, showing how I do highlights in Procreate. Right at the MOST important part, my Apple Pencil just DIED. No warning, no low battery popup, nothing. I had to grab my old mouse and finish the whole eye detail using that clunky thing on my desk. It looked SO messy but everyone in chat thought it was hilarious. Has anyone else had their gear fail at the worst possible moment?
