TIL a heavy duty seam roller makes a huge difference on commercial glue downs
I was doing a 3000 square foot office in Columbus last week and kept fighting with my old plastic roller. Borrowed a metal one from the guy next door and it flattened those seams in half the passes. Anybody else switch to metal rollers and never look back?

Made the same mistake on a big retail job a few months back. Showed up with my beat up plastic seam roller and spent the whole first day redoing seams that looked terrible. Bought a metal one that night and it was like a completely different tool. Now I keep the metal one in my truck and the plastic one sits in the garage collecting dust.

I love how we all pretend plastic rollers are fine until we borrow a metal one for 'just one pass' and suddenly our old tool becomes garage art. That 'chasing bubbles all afternoon' line hit home because I spent three hours doing exactly that before I learned my lesson (and bruised my ego). Now my plastic roller's job is holding open the shop door, which is honestly the most useful it's ever been.

I had the same thing happen on a 4000 foot school hallway in Dayton. That plastic roller just couldnt put enough pressure on the seams and I was chasing bubbles all afternoon. Switched to a 4 inch metal one from the supply house and it flattened everything in one pass. Just watch out for the edge if you're working near baseboards that heavy roller can dent the wall if you get careless.
