Tried power stretcher with no knee kicker, still on the fence

Been installing for 11 years and always thought the knee kicker was a crutch, so I did a full living room in Spokane with just the power stretcher and a stair tool. The seams came out tight but I lost a ton of time fighting the carpet into doorways and against the walls. Question is, does anyone else use the power stretcher exclusively, or am I just making extra work for myself?

Honestly, I feel you on that "fighting the carpet" part. I tried the same thing a few years back on a ranch with a long hallway and it was brutal, the power stretcher just doesn't have the same touch for getting that last bit of stretch around a door frame without tearing something. You're not making extra work for yourself in a bad way, it's just a different beast. I ended up keeping the knee kicker for those tight spots because it saves me about twenty minutes a room and my back thanks me. But respect for doing a whole living room that way, that's some real dedication to the method.
