Rant: spent 3 weeks hunting down a single deleted tweet for my celeb fail compilation
I've been putting together a video of celebrity social media screwups for a while now, and last month I got stuck on one specific post. A singer I won't name tweeted something rough about a city she was touring in, deleted it 20 minutes later, and I could not find a single screenshot of it anywhere. I checked the Wayback Machine, dug through old Reddit threads from 2014, and even messaged 4 people on Twitter who claimed they had it saved. Turned out a fan account in the Philippines had the screenshot buried in an old Google Drive folder, and they sent it to me after 3 weeks of back and forth. What's your go to method for tracking down a deleted celeb post that everyone talks about but nobody seems to have anymore?
I had a similar thing happen with a YouTuber who wiped like 200 videos overnight back in 2019. There was a whole wiki page built around one of the deleted vids and the page had zero proof it even existed, just people arguing in the talk section about whether it was real. I ended up finding a reupload on some random Dailymotion account with 12 views, which felt like finding a needle in a haystack. The weird part is the internet remembers everything except the one thing you actually need. Your Philippines fan account story tracks though, those overseas stan accounts archive everything and they never delete the folders.
