Serious question, did moving to Chicago really cost me $400 more a month or did I just pick the wrong neighborhood?
I moved from Indy to Lakeview 8 months ago and a guy at a bar on Clark told me I was crazy for paying $1,650 for a one bedroom. He said he pays $1,200 in Pilsen and takes the Pink Line everywhere, so I should have just done that. But here is my thing, I work in the Loop and my walk to the train is 4 minutes, his is 15, and he admitted his commute is almost 45 minutes each way. So one side says you pay for time and safety, the other side says you are just burning money to live near bars you never go to. I honestly cannot tell who is right here. Did anyone else do the math on their own move and regret the neighborhood they picked?
