Vent: my mover quoted me $1,800 from Austin to Lakeview, then hit me with $3,400 on delivery day
The truck showed up 3 days late, and the guy tells me my stuff was 2,100 pounds over his estimate, so the price jumped $1,600 if I wanted it off the truck. I paid it because everything I own was sitting on the street in the rain, but I got a written inventory with weights at pickup and filed a complaint with the Illinois Commerce Commission the next morning. They folded in about 2 weeks and cut me a check for the difference. Has anyone found a Chicago mover who actually does a real in-home estimate instead of a phone quote?
