My old way of checking for blockages was a real pain before I switched to a camera system

For years I just used a mirror and a flashlight, which meant a lot of climbing and guessing, especially on those tall chimneys in the older neighborhoods. After a tricky job in Springfield where I missed a partial bird's nest, I invested in a cheap inspection camera and it changed the game. Do you think the pricier models with better lights are worth the extra cash?

Man, a mirror? That sounds like something from the dark ages. If the cheap one works, save your cash.

My uncle still uses one of those old polished metal plates!

Hold on now, I have to disagree. A cheap camera is fine until you're staring at a dark, sooty flue and can't see a thing. Better lighting on a pricier model isn't just a fancy add-on, it's the whole point of having a camera in the first place. You miss details in the shadows, and that's how you get callbacks. I respect the old ways like @lucasw71 mentioned, but we upgraded for a reason. Spending a bit more for a tool that actually shows you the problem clearly just makes good sense.
