Had a rough week after a brand deal blew up in my face
Last month I landed a small sponsorship with a local snack company. Posted one video, nothing wild. Then their CEO got outed for some racist tweets from 2012. Next thing I know, my comments are full of people telling me to drop them. I waited 48 hours, figured they'd handle it. They didn't. So I cut ties myself and refunded the $300 they paid me. Lost 2,000 followers in one day anyway. The brand account deleted everything and went private. Has anyone else been caught in the middle of a partner's cancel moment? How do you pick who to work with after that?
So you waited 48 hours, then cut ties and refunded the $300 yourself. Did the snack company even reach out to you after you walked, or did they just ghost and go private? I'm asking because that part matters for how you pick the next one, if they never once took blame, that tells you the whole deal was one sided from the start. What did their contract even say about stuff like this, or was it just a handshake and a venmo?
