A machinist in Dayton told me he runs his VMCs at 115% rapid and I can't stop thinking about it
Was chatting with a guy at a shop in Dayton last month who swears he bumps his rapids to 115% on every production run and has not crashed a machine in 6 years. I always figured anything over 100% was asking for a wreck, but he says going faster actually keeps the servos from jerking at corners on his older Haas mills. Am I the only one who never touches that dial, or is this a real trick people actually use?
