A machinist with 30 years on the floor told me to stop checking my parts so much
Sat down next to this older guy named Ray at the lunch table on Tuesday, and he asked how many times I mike a bore before I pull the part. I told him maybe 3 or 4 times and he just laughed and said 'you're measuring your own nerves, not the part.' He said in his 30 years the guys who scrap the most are the ones who keep re-checking and second guessing, and honestly it hit me because I do that all the time on the last .002. Anybody here ever cut back on how much you measure and actually see your scrap rate go down? Or is that just old guy talk?
