I finally fixed the chatter that haunted my mill for 8 months, and it was a $2 part
Ran the same 4140 job on the Haas since last fall with this awful squeal at 1800 rpm, tried shimming, re-leveling, new inserts, everything, until Dave from the next bay put a dial on my drawbar and showed me the belleville washers were shot, and 8 months of headache disappeared in one McMaster order, so who else has chased a ghost in their machine only to find it was something dumb and cheap?
