PSA: Stop blowing out your air lines with that cheap compressor water.
I ran a shop in Austin for 5 years and just switched to a refrigerated dryer setup. The difference in tool life on my Haas VF-2 was insane, like my tooling costs dropped about 40% in the first 3 months. That moisture in your lines from a regular compressor is killing your spindle and your endmills, not just your pneumatics. Has anyone else here made the switch and seen a real difference?

Wait, wait - you're telling me you ran a Haas VF-2 for five years on a regular compressor without a refrigerated dryer and only switched now? That's honestly blowing my mind, I would have thought the spindle would be toast way before that.

Blowing your mind?" C'mon, it's not that dramatic. I ran a VF-2 for like four years on a basic compressor. No dryer. Spindle's fine. Still running parts today. People act like you need a NASA-grade setup for a simple toolroom. Wet air is annoying but it doesn't magically kill spindles overnight. You just blow out the filters now and then and keep an eye on things. It's not ideal but it's not a death sentence either.
