Tbh, I just flushed $150 on a 'universal' collet set that didn't fit my mill

The box said it was for Bridgeport-style spindles, but the tolerances were junk and it wobbled right out of the gate. Anyone know a good brand for a real R8 set?

Seeing runout by eye is just the worst feeling.

Yeah my buddy had the same thing happen with a cheap import set. He got it from some online tool shop, the collets were all out of round. They'd grab the tool okay but you could see the runout just by eye. He ended up going with a set from Tormach and those have been solid for him.

Runout you can see sounds pretty bad, but is it actually wrecking parts? @nguyen.thomas, a lot of guys run imports for hobby work and the finish is fine for what they do. Spending triple on a brand name seems overkill unless you're doing production work.
