That time a new guy asked me if the machine was 'smoking' the part
Last month we had this kid named Tyler start on the late shift, real eager type. We were running a batch of aluminum plates on the Haas VF-2, and he sees the coolant misting over a cut and panics, asks if the machine is smoking the part. I had to explain it was just our flood coolant doing its job, and he spent the next hour calling every mist a 'steam signal.' Has anyone else had a trainee think normal machine fog was a fire risk?

Wait, you mean that mist is supposed to happen? I totally used to think any fog near a spinning tool was about to ignite, but now I get it's just coolant.
