I spent $300 on a coding bootcamp that just taught me how to copy and paste

I saw an ad for this online course promising to make me a web developer in 12 weeks. It was a lot of money for me, but I figured it was an investment. The whole thing was just video lectures where the instructor typed code and told us to type exactly what he did. No explanation of why things worked, no real problem solving. When I tried to build something on my own after the course, I was completely lost. It felt like I'd just paid to watch someone else work for three months. I didn't learn how to think like a programmer at all. Has anyone else had this happen with a paid course? What's a better way to actually learn the logic behind the code?

That's basically every cheap online course out there.

Sounds like you paid $300 for a fancy typing class! Those courses are the worst, they just teach you to follow recipes without understanding the ingredients.
