Pro tip: the guy at my library's free code meetup told me to stop memorizing syntax and just build 1 ugly thing instead
He looked at my notes crammed with every JavaScript method and said "nobody hires a dictionary, they hire someone who shipped something," so I went home to Austin and built a dumb tip calculator that took 4 hours and broke twice, and honestly it taught me more than a month of tutorials, so what's the first ugly thing you ever finished?

I used to hoard tutorials too, but finishing one janky thing really does stick better.
