inThat Monday where everything that could break did break
A 15mm socket down the intake? That's a special kind of Monday right there. You know it's bad when you start wondering if the truck is actually alive and has a personal grudge against you. The wrong oil filter from the parts house just rubs salt in the wound, makes you feel like the universe is conspiring against you. What's the bet that Cummins starts running perfect after you got the rocker arm replaced, just to spite you?

inJust had a talk with an old timer that changed how I look at compressors
Yeah that's good advice but I gotta call out one thing. Dirty lines and bad solder joints are install problems for sure, but wrong charge is a different animal. Sometimes a compressor fails and the tech just assumes the charge is wrong, but really the unit has a leak or the metering device is stuck. You can't just blame the charge without checking the whole system. I ran into that myself a few years back. Thought a guy botched the charge on a new install, turned out the evaporator had a pinhole leak from the factory. He wasn't wrong about fixing the install first though. Most guys I see just swap parts without looking at what caused it. That old timer had a good way of putting it but I'd say the real lesson is always find the root cause before you throw parts at it.

inOverheard a guy at REI say his tent is 'bomb proof' but he can't set it up in under 45 minutes
Build from experience with those heavy canvas tents. 45 minutes is a serious time sink when you roll into camp after dark and it's raining. The whole "bomb proof" thing is great for a base camp where you set up once and stay a week, but for weekend trips or moving spots every day, that kind of setup time kills the vibe. I'd rather have a tent that's maybe 90% as sturdy but pops up in 10 minutes flat. Less time fighting with poles, more time cracking a beer by the fire.

inQuestion about how long you let your book press sit before opening
Whoa hold on, two weeks? That is insane to me. I get nervous leaving a book in the press overnight. I’d be worried the thing would start molding or something. But you’re telling me the pages came out like glass after two weeks? That’s almost hard to believe. I mean, I’ve left a paperback in a car on a hot day and it came out wavy, but never flat and smooth. I might have to try pushing my own press time past three days after hearing that, but I don’t know if I have the guts for a full week.

inI was a total snob about frozen fruit, until I tried it in laminated dough
Friend of mine used frozen raspberries in croissants and @parkera22 is totally right, they actually held their shape.
