Hit 10,000 filter fails bookmarked on my phone and it got me thinking

I was cleaning out my camera roll the other day and noticed I had somehow saved over 10,000 screenshots and videos of filter glitches. It started way back in like 2018 when my buddy sent me a snap where his face turned into a stretched-out potato. I saved it thinking it was a one-off joke. But then I kept seeing more and more of these weird distortions, like when a puppy filter would randomly stick to someone's forehead or a beauty filter would just give you a third eye. Now I scroll through them sometimes and it feels like a weird time capsule of how bad the tech used to be. I remember when the only fail was a dog nose floating next to your ear, not full body warping into a pretzel. Does anyone else hoard these clips even after they stop being funny?

Overheard a guy at the shop say reading comics digitally is 'lazy' and I still can't shake that opinion...

He was flipping through a beat-up copy of The Killing Joke and said anyone who reads on a tablet doesn't really appreciate the art, which got me thinking about where the line is between convenience and actual fandom, so what do you all think - does the format change how much someone values the story?

Rant: I was sure dub was always worse than sub

I used to think anyone watching dubbed anime was just being lazy, lol. Then I caught the English cast for Cowboy Bebop and realized some performances actually bring extra personality to the characters. Has anyone else had a dub change their whole opinion on a show?

I finally figured out why my drawer fronts were warping after 6 months

Built a set of kitchen drawers last fall for a client in Austin, and three of the fronts started bowing by spring. Turned out I was skipping the seal coat on the back side because nobody sees it, but the moisture difference was pulling them out of flat. Any of you guys seal both sides on your drawer fronts or am I just overthinking this?

Shoutout to the guy who warned me about that viral skincare brand

My buddy Mark from the station told me 8 months ago that Drunk Elephant was overhyped and would crash. I laughed it off because everyone was raving about their serums. Now they're getting dragged for that whole SPF recall and layoff news. Has anyone else dodged a brand hype train just by listening to one person?

Turned my golden retriever into a croissant last week

yeah but i gotta disagree with you there @the_tessa. a croissant from a bag at the grocery store is technically baked, sure, but calling it "freshly baked" is a whole different thing. it means it came out of the oven that day, maybe even an hour ago, not two days ago from a factory. the word "freshly" is doing real work there, it tells you it's not just any baked croissant, it's one that still has that heat and flaky texture. you can have a baked croissant that's stale and rubbery, but a freshly baked one is almost a different food entirely. so it's not really redundant, it's just specifying the good kind.

Whoa, hold on, zero RSVPs until 9pm the night before? That is insane. I would have been pacing a hole in my floor thinking the whole thing was a bust. It is wild to think you just had to trust the process and that everyone would actually show up at the last second like that.

Blew a hydraulic line on a 737 yesterday and it was my own dumb fault

...and honestly, is it really that serious? Skydrol burns suck, sure, but you had goggles on, you didn't hit your eyes. That's the real danger. Floor's gonna get cleaned anyway, bleed's part of the job. I've seen guys snap off bleed valves on a 320 because they torqued it like a lugnuts while rushing, that's a real problem that costs parts and a write-up. A little hydraulic bath and a slow cleanup? That's Tuesday. You didn't hurt anyone, didn't break anything expensive, just gave yourself a gross afternoon. I think the rite of passage crowd has a point, honestly.

Overheard a guy at REI saying my tent was too heavy

Wait didn't your buddy Mike have that happen where his fancy tarp collapsed on him in a storm and he spent the night huddled under a tree? I'll take a heavy tent any day over waking up with my sleeping bag soaked.
